My White Sheets are Black

Yes it is true. My mother warned me and I failed to listen to her (again). When you have sheet washing habits like me (meaning you do not wash your sheets), white is not your friend. My once gorgeous white soft sheets are tarnished by the oils of my own skin. Sick man.

Every year come spring I always get an anxious feeling. The feeling that time is moving quicker and quicker each day. In a few days it will be April. In a month it will be May. Where will I be come June? What will I be doing when I graduate in one short year? It takes me hours to decide what t-shirt to throw on in the morning... it took me 19 years to decide to major in business. How am I ever supposed to decide on a career path?

These are not new questions, but ones that I revisit frequently, as I am sure most of you do as well. But how can you not when it's your dreams at stake?

My neglected sheets are still longing to be put back on my bed. I will shake my head at them a little longer.

There has been talk that Ali and I will show New York a little of what we're made of this summer. One blond babe and one brown eyed vixen on the prowl together could be trouble...

New York New York

9 days of freedom.
Great company.
Shopping.
Amazing entertainment.
The busy bustle of the city.

That breath of fresh air that was so badly needed.

Spring Break 2006... everything I wanted it to be.

BurbaRy...

is doing good around the globe. Madison misses you.

"This past week I finished helping to build a school out of mud and sticks with a community group working in one of the largest slums in Eastern Africa, Kibera. It was really great to help erect this structure made with nothing but the things around you. Now over forty girls will have a school to learn and study at. Earlier today I was part of a demonstration with a few thousand others supporting freedom of press here in Kenya. I'm not sure if it's been covered in the US, but the president here ordered raids of a critical newspaper and TV station this past week. It was pretty intense, especially because of the riot police that were EVERYWHERE! It was actually somewhat comical though, as they seemed very disorganized and didn't have the same equipment. It was kind of like in Little Giants when the get the bag of random football equipment. I was waiting to see a police officer with a pot for a helmet. In about a week I'll be heading to Madagascar for 9 days, so I can rock out on some beautiful beaches and in the rainforests there. After that I'll be moving to a village named Maua to work at a hospital where people are sent once they enter the terminal stages of AIDS."

Creepy Monday

Okay, so I am sitting down at my post in front of the Rathskeller in the Memorial Union registering people for Mini Courses and something that disturbs me just occurred. I was playing around on my Facebook profile and looking at people's pictures from the weekend when a middle-aged man comes up to me and glances over me shoulder...

"Oh, neat! Facebook- I've been trying to get an account for a while."

in my head I am thinking- "trying to get an account? It's not that hard" however, I respond...

"It's a fun way to pass the time and joke around with friends."

"Oh definitely, but it's hard to find a student's e-mail address that is currently not using Facebook that I can register with. If you could not tell, I am not a student."

in my head... omg, I am talking to an Internet stalker... What comes out of my mouth...

"That's too bad."

Yikes.

P.S. Snow you can go away. I am sick of playing your games.

Give Me the Boot!

Last night Jenna, Adam, Anna, Grace and I went and experienced 1/2 off boot night at the Essenhaus. We also got to experience a wide variety of munchies thanks to Grace... Funny that turning the french fries into lincoln logs sticks out more than the boots.

My lifestyle has changed a lot this past semester. Mainly, I drink a lot more. Up until recently I would go out once a week. Maybe if there was a lot going on, Friday and Saturday- but that was a rare occurrence. And sometimes if I was pushed really hard or someone managed to get a few drinks in me, a week night every now and then. Right now I am having trouble remembering the last time I didn't go out Thursday, Friday, AND Saturday. This is beginning to trouble me, because it's not who I am. I love just chilling in my pajamas on Saturday nights with a cup of warm tea and a good movie- or even a fun craft (nerd, maybe).

Now, I will be the first to admit there are lots of nice things about being single. However, I am going to attribute the fact that I am drinking more to that reason. Staying in on the weekends is only fun if there is someone to do it with. Who likes sitting around the house alone knowing all their friends are out together? Having a partner in crime comes in handy when you feel like avoiding liquor and laying low.

So, if you are every inclined to take a break and play with popsicle sticks and glue or just lie around eating ice cream, you've found a buddy.

The Clock is Ticking & The Pages are Turning

"Time Waits for No one"

How true it is. It seems like just yesterday I was lounging in Dahab. It can not be longer ago than last week that it was Thanksgiving and I was sitting around the dinner table laughing with family and friends. Can it really be that this school year started over 1/2 a year a go? When did my little sister grow-up to be 19 years old?

I do not think that I go through life with my head in the sand.

But where have all the days gone? There is only one more page in my student planner between now and spring break... and not that many more between now and the end of the semester.

What am I going to do to make those pages that are left count?
